40 Days for Love is a prayer and action campaign dedicated to promoting chastity and authentic love by combating false loves, particularly the evil scourge of pornography. In today’s world we are bombarded by sexual temptation.

It is our mission to turn the tide of sexual immorality and to instill a culture of love and life among all people.

Because our world is so under attack, we must defend it! The blatant objectification of women and the selfish utilization of the temptations of men hinder our innate capabilities for true love. Through this campaign we will witness many such attacks, but we must stay strong!

This campaign is centered on the ADORATION of the Body and Blood of Jesus, who is the Lord of our senses and the protector of our purity. Throughout these 40 days (beginning the 40 days before Christmas, or the 40 days during Lent),

WE WILL:

• Do at least ONE Holy Hour a week.
• Pray in front of Porn Stores, Adult Book Stores, or “Gentleman’s” Clubs once a week.
• Make petitions to fight the objectification of women and temptation of men found in advertising.
• Pray devotionals for the campaign’s daily intentions (received by email).

FOUR TIERS OF 40 DAYS FOR LOVE

#1 – Prayer & Fasting

The daily devotionals are key to the success of this campaign, but simply receiving them every day isn’t enough. We are all called to a daily life of prayer, of true conversation with God. But remember, this is a personal encounter, for love is always a personal experience first before it can reach out to others. This campaign will grow because of the individual growth of all of us!

The second aspect of this tier involves something very difficult to do for those of us who don’t normally practice this (outside of the Fridays during Lent). Fasting  from the unnecessary things in our lives will show God our commitment to this movement in a very powerful way. Allow this time to be a time of fasting, as difficult as Thanksgiving and Christmas pressures are. After all, these times of waiting are the perfect times to be more aware of the daily fast that Jesus experienced in the desert before sharing the ultimate act of love ever given before!

#2 – Community Outreach

We have experienced this most succinctly with the Angels in Disguise concert, with the work of St. Thomas Aquinas in Bowling Green, KY and with any forwarded emails you all have sent to other people! Thus, this tier requires our full participation because it makes the 40 Days for Love movement VISIBLE to the world. Those of us who fail to temptation simply because we don’t see anyone actively living out a better life will be able to find true inspiration for the first time! Chastity requires community, accountability, and unconditional support! This second tier gives this movement the ability to grow into whatever God desires!

#3 – Peaceful Vigil (United with 40 Days for LIFE)

This tier, just like abortion, is hard to live out because to put it simply, it’s hard to stand on the front lines of this culture war! It’s hard to visibly BE THERE where the sins of this world are most apparent. But it’s necessary all the same. While much of pornography and sexual behavior happens behind closed doors, we must find the strength to at least be there for people who have fallen far enough to actually seek it out beyond their personal computers and households. The stores and businesses all over our towns and cities need our prayers so desperately, but just as importantly, they need to understand the true severity of their lifestyle, not to judge them, but to uplift them and give them the support and real love they need!

#4 – Educational Development

This tier developed during the second official 40 Days for Love campaign during the Lenten Season of 2013. Because love takes time, patience, and practice, it cannot be forced or rushed. Therefore, we hope to establish a more concrete method to educating ourselves and others about the importance of true love in society. By focusing on John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, we will coordinate educational programs throughout each campaign to cater to the sexual health and behavior of everyone we can reach. From courses on Natural Family Planning to sessions on ToB for Teens and Young Adults, to induction ceremonies into the Angelic Warfare Confraternity and more, we hope to teach people exactly HOW to be pro-love toward other people.

These tiers will be developed as each campaign unfolds.
